At Youdera, we are on a mission to make European businesses energy resilient. In the current world, companies have to be prepared for a future that is difficult to predict. We provide distributed energy solutions (Solar PV, BESS, Roof renovation, Monitoring and Maintenance services) in the b2b self consumption space, meaning businesses can use the energy they generate right on-site. This way, we help businesses to take control of their energy future.
So far, we’ve grown mainly through a partner-led model (our trusted solar partners). That’s worked well, but now we’re stepping things up. We’re building a stronger direct-to-customer sales engine to accelerate our pipeline and take more ownership of customer relationships.
That’s where you come in.
As Senior Business Developer for our Portuguese Operations, you’ll play a key role in building this direct sales engine. You’ll be responsible for originating, structuring, and closing direct PPA deals with end customers. You’ll work closely with the Country Manager (who focuses primarily on partner relationships) while fully owning your own deals from first conversation to signature.
This role is for someone who’s commercially sharp, structured, autonomous, and comfortable navigating complex, high-value transactions.
What you’ll actually be doing
(and yes, it’s more than just “selling solar”)
- Find the right customers. Proactively identify and qualify commercial and industrial companies in Portugal that are a strong fit for long-term PPAs.
- Work actively together with the marketing team to develop inbound and outbound strategies.
- Own the full sales cycle. Build and manage a robust direct sales pipeline; from lead generation and first meetings through to contract signature.
- Talk to the people who matter. Engage CFOs, CEOs, Energy Managers, and Operations Directors, and lead conversations at decision-making level.
- Lead complex commercial discussions, including:
- PPA structures and pricing logic
- Key commercial and contractual principles
- Turn market insight into deals. Understand the Portuguese b2b solar market, customer energy needs, and competitive pricing, and translate all of that into bankable, investable PPA opportunities.
- Keep things moving. Maintain accurate CRM (we use Salesforce) data, manage forecasts, anticipate risks and bottlenecks, and follow up consistently to drive deals to close.
- Support partner-led deals when needed, ensuring strong commercial quality and smooth execution.
Who are we looking for
- 5–10 years of technical experience in B2B renewable energy sales (preferably solar PV), PPAs, infrastructure, or a closely related field
- An engineering background (mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering)
- Proven experience selling directly to end customers, not only through intermediaries
- Strong commercial judgement, negotiation skills, and a track record of closing complex, long-term contracts
- Analytically minded and comfortable selling complex, high-value solutions — this isn’t a transactional sale, but sophisticated solar projects and PPA contracts
- Highly structured, organised, and reliable, with the ability to manage multiple deals in parallel
- Able to work autonomously, take ownership, and be accountable for outcomes
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical and financial concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Workplace
This role is based in Lisbon or Porto. You will be travelling frequently to projects all over the country.
